All family members can access Italian healthcare and tuition system, which are known for their high quality standards. Furthermore, the applicant and the accompanying family can apply for Italian citizenship after ten years residing in Italy. Italian citizenship grants the right to live in any EU country and travel to most of the world countries Visa free.

Finally, high income individuals can apply to special tax benefits garanted by the Italian government to attract investors to live in Italy from foreign countries.

The Italian Investor Visa can be requested by any extra EU citizen over 18 years of age, with no criminal records and a valid healthcare insurance being able to fulfill the investment requirements.

What are the steps and the timeframe to obtain the Investor Visa for Italy?

The process to obtain the Investor Visa for Italy is quite complex, due to the documents and certificates that the applicant needs to provide: this is why we recommend to hire an agency like Y-Nos to assiste during the process.

It is important that the applicant bears in mind that the total timeframe from the moment of the request until moving to Italy can take up to 4 months (it can be shorter, depending on the documents provided and the Italian government immigration agency).

The Steps:

Step 1

Preliminary Assessment

The application process for Italian Investor Visa starts with a preliminary assessment of the requirements of the applicant by our consultants.

This assessment is mandatory and is necessary to reduce the risk of rejection by spotting the potential risks; upon this phase, solutions and adjustments are provided by our immigration lawyer.

In case the specific situation of the applicant doesn’t match with the Investor Visa requirement, our immigration experts will suggest alternatives to successfully move to Italy.

Please note that all the information shared with our company is strictly confidential and a non-disclosure agreement is signed by Y-Nos.

Step 2

Nulla Osta Application

Our staff will collect all the documents to obtain the “Nulla Osta” certificate, which basically grants the holder the right to apply for the Visa within 6 months from the date of issue.

The documents are:

  • Copy of passport
  • A written declaration of the applicant to invest in Italy once the Visa is issued
  • Evidence of the funds to invest
  • Certificate of professional experience and introduction

Once our staff has taken care of the translation and legal certification of the documents, our immigration lawyer will create an account on the government website for Investor Visa and upload all the documents to obtain the Nulla Osta.

Step 3

Investor Visa Application

Once the “Nulla Osta” certificate is obtained, the holder has the right to apply for the Investor Visa within 6 months at the Italian Consulate of their country of origin.

The documents to process the Visa application are:

  • Copy of Nulla Osta certificate
  • Copy of passport (all pages)
  • Tax number (Codice Fiscale)
  • A contract of purchase / lease of residential property in Italy
  • A photo of the applicant
  • Certificate of health insurance covering min. €8.500 (+ accompanying members)
Our immigration lawyer will support the applicant with the whole process, while the real estate department of Y-Nos will provide solutions for an accommodation complying with the immigration requirements.

The request is processed by the Italian Consulate within 120 days, even if in most cases the decision is reached within one month and sent to the applicant by e-mail.

Step 4

Going to Italy and Obtaining the Permit of Stay

Once the applicant is in possession of the Visa, it will be finally possible to travel to Italy. Within 8 days from the date of arrival, the visa holder needs to go to the Questura (Police Migration Office) office in the city of residence bringing the following documents:

  • Two photos
  • Copy of passport (all pages)
  • Tax stamp

After providing the documents, the applicant needs to provide evidence of the transfer of the funds and of the investment fulfillment to the Investor Visa Program Committee (for instance by providing a notary act or a company registration): these obligations, and additional evidence if required by the Committee, are handled by our immigration lawyer in order to make sure that the Permit of Stay is issued without any problem.

Once the holder is in possession of the Permit of Stay, which has a duration of 2 years and can be renewed for additional 3 years in case the investment is maintained, the applicant and the accompanying family members can request the certificate of residence, the healthcare card and all the documents necessary for living in Italy. Our staff will assist with obtaining all the documents and certificates.
